Gen 2 Chapter 4: Nine Months.

It had been a few months since I found out I was pregnant, and my god have they gone quick. I am getting bigger by the day, and Jacob just can't seem to stop playing peek-a-boo or talking to my belly. It is very cute to see, and I just know he is as excited as I am, maybe more. I have my twenty week scan first thing tomorrow morning, we are hoping to find out what we are having. As long as the baby is healthy I don't really mind , but I would really like a girl, whereas Jacob wants a boy, someone who he can watch the football with.

We were loving watching my belly grow and feeling the baby move underneath our fingertips. It is such a magical time. I have been craving orange ice cream a lot lately and have even got poor Jacob out of bed to get me some at three in the morning when we ran out. He hasn't complained once bless him.

The alarm went off at 7AM, we both climbed out of bed and got ourselves ready, we didn't want to be late on such an important day. As we neared the hospital I could feel the butterflies forming in the pit of my stomach. I was feeling slightly nervous and excited to be finding out what we having. We had a few names picked for a boy or girl, so were very prepared. All that was left to do was finishing the nursery, which we thought could wait until we knew what sex the baby was, even though we had decided to go with an animal theme.

The waiting room wasn't very busy, so we were only waiting for about five minutes before we were called through. I waddled into the tiny room and eased myself onto the bed, as soon as the midwife placed the scanner on my belly we could hear the heart beating strongly. I looked at Jacob with a big smile on face, and saw he was smiling too. We found out the sex of the baby, but decided to keep it between us. We said thank-you and goodbye to the midwife and left the hospital.

We stopped off at the sim'n'q on the way home to pick up all the items for the babies room, including wallpaper, paint, crib, etc. Everything that the little one would need. The room was ready to make a start, so as soon as we got home we spent the rest of the evening painting and getting things ready. We finally climbed into bed just gone 1AM, and I was knackered.

As the sun shone through the window I opened my eyes sleepily, I turned to cuddled Jacob, only to find he wasn't there. I climbed out of bed and went to look for him, I checked the kitchen, the garden, the living room to no avail. Just as I was about to call out to him, I heard singing coming from the nursery, I headed there and found him examining his handiwork, he looked like he had been up for a while. The room was finished and looked beautiful. I kissed him and thanked him for finishing it.

It was Mum's birthday today so we thought it would be nice to take her and dad out for a meal to celebrate. Lily couldn't come because she had  just come out of hospital, she found out she was pregnant just before Benji proposed to her. They only told us a few days ago because she had been having quite a few complications and didn't want to worry us all. The doctors had decided to induce her yesterday, just to make sure that she and the baby would be safe. I am now a very proud Auntie to a little boy, whom they named Leo. I phoned and told mum and dad what was happening, and asked them to meet us at the bistro at 7pm tonight. After saying goodbye, I phoned Lily to see if she was home, and to make sure it was OK to visit. I got myself ready before going to Lily's so I didn't have to head home before the meal, even though I'm sure it doesn't make a difference, none of my clothes fit me now.

We arrived outside Lily's house a few minutes later and walked up the path to knock on the door. It didn't take her long to answer, we chatted for a bit and Jacob made us some tea. I was excited to see my nephew, and headed upstairs to see him. I peered over the side of his crib, my god he was so tiny and he looked like a little angel. I gently cradled his head and lifted him into my arms, as I snuggled him close to me he cooed, knowing this would be me in a few weeks time, I couldn't help but smile. I was eagerly awaiting the day when it would be my baby cooing in my arms.

Jacob came in and said that maybe we should go because Lily looked a little tired, I told him OK and that I would just settle Leo, as it would help Lily, then I would be down. I gently placed Leo in his crib and made my downstairs. We said goodbye to Lily, and I told her that if she ever wanted a hand with anything or just a day to her self she knew where I was. She thanked me and said goodbye before closing the door.

It was almost half past 6 when we left Lily's, so we headed straight to the bistro to meet mum and dad, who were already there chatting at the table. They both stood up and hugged us, mum couldn't help feeling my belly. Her and dad were very proud grandparents. We all sat down and ordered our meals, it didn't take long for the waiter to deliver them. As we tucked in we all chatted about our days. I was finishing my meal when I felt a twinge in my belly, I couldn't be having the baby now it was still too early. I relaxed when the pain passed after a few seconds, maybe it was just gas or something.

When another more intense wave of pain hit me I knew I had gone into labour, I told Jacob it was time to go to hospital. Him and dad payed for the meal while I waited with mum, when they returned we all headed to the hospital. My contractions were coming faster and stronger now, so I knew it wouldn't be long before my baby was in my arms......... .
