Gen 1 - Chapter 4: A Mysterious Letter.

With Claude down on his knees asking me to marry him, all I could see was our future. A bright, happy future filled with love, passion, and companionship. I knew my answer HAD to be yes. How could I ever live without this man before me!? I needed him to be a part of my life, as much as he needed me to be a part of his. When I am around him I feel so alive and confident that I could do and be anything I wanted. He completes me.

When we arrived home from our romantic evening we couldn't contain our passion, and while the twins were taking their nap we spent the afternoon in a blissful haze. I just love being in his arms.

The twins are growing so fast. They will be starting nursery in a few months. We thought it would be in their best interests if we started looking at schools early to see which one would suit their needs best. We agreed on the one I used to work at, so that when I decided to go back to work I would be close by if they ever needed me.

We managed to get an interview with the headmaster for the following week.

When the day arrived I was feeling a little nervous and had a bit of an upset tummy. About an hour before we were due to leave Claude received a phone call from his boss asking him to go into work, there was an emergency at the prison and he was needed for a few hours. I suppose I could go to speak to the headmaster alone, I kinda wished we could have done it as a family though.

I called our sitter and asked her to watch the girls for me while I went to the school. When she arrived I kissed the twins and said my goodbye's.

As I arrived at the school I noticed a strange man standing chatting to a few of the children. I wonder who he is? Turns out he was the new Headmaster. His name is Mr Ryan Bradford. We chatted about what Mr Bradford was going to do for the school, and how he was going to make it easier for the children to learn while still having fun at the same time. As the girls were still fairly young they would be learning through playing with different types of educational toys. I thought this was a great idea because I had seen how well they responded to the xylophone and shape sorter we bought them. The school would be able to provide a wider variety to stimulate their brain and help them learn.

I shook hands with Mr Bradford agreeing that this would be the perfect school for my girls. They would start in September. I would miss them being home all day, but having some time to myself would also be good. Maybe I could take up a new hobby? Or find a part-time job?

Claude got home from work exhausted. He was surprised to see I had cooked his favourite meal, grilled salmon, and put candles on the table, so that we could have a romantic evening. I explained everything Mr Bradford had said about the school, and why I thought it was a great idea for the girls to go there.

When I woke up I rushed to toilet, I still had an upset tummy. I hope that's all it is.! I decided to make an appointment with the doctor just to be sure.

My appointment went OK, the doctor wants to send me for a scan and a few more tests. He thinks I may have Poly-cystic Ovaries. He said it's nothing to worry about, but it will make it difficult for me to fall pregnant again in the future.

I'm not sure how I feel about it all. Or if I even want more children. I just feel so lucky to have two beautiful healthy girls, and a wonderful Husband. I think I need to ask Claude how he feels about the possibility of us not having more children.

I waited until the girls were in bed before asking Claude to join me in the living room. I was nervous as I told him what the doctor said, and how I was feeling about it all. He said that he totally agreed with me, and that he didn't think we should have any more children either. The girls would soon be starting school and we would be getting more time to ourselves. He even suggested that I think about going back to work a few days a week to take my mind off the whole situation. I thought it was a great idea and told him I would call Mr Bradford first thing tomorrow morning.

When I woke my mind was clear for the first time in a while, I knew it was a great time for me to go back to work. I called Mr Bradford and asked if there were any positions going, he told me Mrs Swift the substitute teacher would be leaving in a few weeks to go on maternity leave and that she didn't know when she would be able to come back. The position was mine, if I wanted it. Of course I said yes. I was really looking forward to being back at work now.

As I got dressed I could hear Claude calling me from the living room, I went downstairs to see what all the fuss was about. He told me he had received a package from his aunt, saying his mother had recently passed and had left him her diary. Of course he was deeply hurt that he didn't get to say goodbye to his mother, or that she had never even met the girls. He was slumped on the sofa and had just started reading the diary when a brown envelope fell out.

Stay tuned for chapter 5 to find out what the letter contains.
