Gen 2 - Chapter 3: The morning after.

When I awoke I was still in some sort of trance, I could hardly believe all of this was real. The man of my dreams was lying beside me, snoring softly, I lay watching him sleep for a few minutes, taking in the beauty of his face. As I sat up ready to get up and dressed he pulled me back onto the bed tracing kisses down my neck, who needs breakfast?

We finally rolled out of bed just after 1PM, hunger finally over-riding all other desires. I cooked some of my special watermelon pancakes, my favourite. It was an old family recipe that my mother taught me, that her mother taught her, and so on as far back as I can remember. We ate the food quickly and hungrily, realising our need for food was almost as strong as our need for each other.

After we had finished eating we curled up on the sofa to watch The Time Traveller's Wife, one of my favourite romantic movies. It was such a perfect film about falling and being in love. The couple were clearly meant to be together, even with everything that tries to come between them. I really do have high hopes for my relationship with Jacob. Mum always told me I would know when I met the one, and I finally have.

It was still early when the film finished, so we called our friends to see if they wanted to go to the club again. We all arranged to meet there in a few hours, so I said goodbye to Jacob as he had to go home to get changed and told him I would seen him soon. I watched him until he was out of sight and ran up the stairs to have my shower and get myself ready.

I left just before eight thirty and got there just as everyone else was arriving. We all went inside and headed straight for the bar, Sara ordered the first round of drinks, Vodka and coke for everyone. As Jacob reached for his drink his hand brushed my leg and I felt the shivers go down my spine, I knew we had to tell everyone now, I knew there was no way I could last even a minute without being able to touch or kiss him.

I whispered in his ear to ask if he was OK with everyone knowing so soon, he said that he had wanted me to be his for forever so of course he wanted our friends to know. As they finished their drinks I ordered another round and told them we had some great news. When we were finished telling them they were all extremely happy for us, there were hugs of congratulations all round.

We stayed for a couple more drinks and half hour or so of dancing before deciding to head home. We headed straight up stairs to bed for another blissful night of passion. I finally drifted off curled up in his arms, I hope I get to fall asleep this way for every night of the rest of my life.

The days have pretty much blurred into one, these past few weeks have gone by so fast. Work has been pretty much the same, with discharge reports to write, medication to hand out and patients to see, after months of hard work I have finally been promoted to paramedic and get to go out on calls and actually help others. All of my free time has been spent curled up with Jacob although Friday night's are still dedicated to our friends.

This morning was a little different though, I woke up feeling a little sick. I ran to the toilet and emptied the contents of my stomach, man I hate being ill. I phoned work to let them know I wasn't going to be coming in for a few days and I also called Jacob and the guys to let them know, they were all concerned and wanted to bring me soup. I had to tell them a few times that it would be best if I was just left to sleep, and that I would see the doctor. After saying goodbye to Jacob I phoned the surgery and made an appointment for in an hours time. I got showered and dressed myself in something comfy and headed to the surgery.

When I arrived home I noticed a note poking through the letter box. I opened it and saw that it was from Jacob, it read: My dearest Lyra, I hate knowing you are ill and that I cannot do anything to help. I hope these flowers will cheer you up, get well soon babe. Love Jake xx. Awww how sweet, I was speechless when I saw the flowers, he must have spent a fortune. They were absolutely beautiful. I took them inside and placed them on the dining table.

I called him straight away to say thank-you and tell him I loved them. He was pleased that they made me smile. I told him that I was feeling better after my sleep, and that we should go out for tea, he said that would be great, and we agreed to meet at the bistro in an hour.

I made myself look a little more decent and left for the bistro. As I arrived I saw Jacob already waiting for me, I ran into his arms and gave him a kiss thanking him for the flowers again. It was such a beautiful night that we choose to eat outside, so we went inside and placed our orders. I had the Falafel, and Jacob had the Baked Angel Pie, both meals were exquisite.

Jacob payed for our meals and said he wanted to show me something, we walked to the local park and sat and watched the fountain for a while, feeling the cool water splash on our skin. I ran my fingers through the water, and as I turned round there was Jacob on one knee with a gorgeous diamond in a beautiful velvet box. I was so excited that I jumped up and down screaming like a little girl, I must have looked a right fool.

Then he said those few magic words that every girl longs to hear "Lyra would you do me the honour of becoming my wife?". "Yes Yes a million times Yes." I replied. He placed the ring on my finger and I stared at it with such awe, it really was a beautiful ring. I pulled him into a hug and kissed him, I couldn't believe he was going to be my husband.

In all the excitement I almost forgot I had some news of my own, I just hoped it would be as good as his. "Jacob I have something to tell you.....I went to the doctor's to see why I was ill and it turns out that.......I'm pregnant." I blurted it out so quickly. "You're pregnant?, that's the most fantastic news ever, I'm going to be a Daddy." he replied as he picked me up and spun me round in a circle. I am so happy right now, life just couldn't get any better.

Stay tuned for chapter 4 :)
