Gen 2 - Chapter 9: Birthday girls

It was a gorgeous sunny day when I woke, I crept into the nursery to see if Kayleigh and the twins were awake. Kayleigh was just sitting in her crib chatting away to herself, I walked over to her and scooped her up in my arms and pulled her close. I was still having a hard time believing my baby was going to heading off to school soon. I took her downstairs to sort her and myself out some breakfast, after she had finished I took her upstairs to get her changed into her party dress and put her hair up. She looked so beautiful.

I left her to play for a while while I fed the twins and got myself sorted, by the time I had had my shower and got dressed I came down to find the garden looking wonderful. Jacob had sorted it all while I was getting ready, I hugged him and said thank-you. Kayleigh was going to have the best birthday ever.

I headed back indoors to prepare the food, Kayleigh wanted her favourite cookies. With only an hour left before everyone would start arriving I made sure the twins were settled and spent some time with Jacob. While we sitting and chatting Jacob told me that he had invited a friend from work, and that it was also his daughters birthday today, she was the same age as Kayleigh. I told him that we would have to make it a special celebration so she could celebrate her birthday too. I told Jacob to quickly rush to the store and buy another cake for her.

By the time he had come back the guests had started to arrive and the party was kicking off. I placed all three cakes on their own tables out in the garden and covered them so that they would be ready for when it was time to blow out the candles. Everyone ate and danced, they were having so much fun.

It was time to blow the candles out, Leo was up first, and my what a handsome boy he was. He looked so much like Benji, although I'm still unsure of where he got his beautiful purple eyes from.

I gently scooped Kayleigh into my arms and walked over to the table with her cake on, as I held her she blew her candles out and everyone cheered. I couldn't believe how much like Jacob's side of the family she was, all except for the gorgeous red hair and breath-takingly green eyes.

I hugged her and told her to go look in the spare room, there was a surprise waiting for her. I followed her up the stairs and watched as she walked in, a look of pure joy crossed her face before she ran into my arms saying "Thank-you Mummy, it's lovely" We had been decorating the spare room for her for a few weeks now, and managed to keep it a secret, I was so pleased she liked it.

We headed back down to watch Kitty blow out her candles. She was such a beautiful little girl, I could see she was going to have men falling at her feet when she was older. Her Daddy looked so proud of her, I said it would be nice if he bought he round to play sometime soon.

As the party continued everyone was still dancing and laughing with each other, I spied Kayleigh, Kitty and Leo giggling over by the play area, I wonder what they are up to?

As the last few guests said their goodbyes and headed home, I looked at Jacob through tired eyes. What would my life be without this gorgeous man by my side? I pulled him into my arms under the star-light and whispered sweet nothings in his ear, he caressed my face and told me how much he loved me. We agreed there and then a date for our wedding, neither of us wanted to wait too long to become Man and Wife.

We headed back in and I told Kayleigh to go get ready for bed, Jacob said he would be up to read her her bedtime story as soon as we had finished clearing away the things from the party. It didn't take very long, it was mostly just plates and wrapping paper that needed to be cleared away. I knew it wouldn't be long before we would have to do it all again as it was the twins birthdays in a few short months, time passes so quick when you spend every minute of every day surrounded by people you love.

While Jacob was reading to Kayleigh I gave the twins their night-time feed and settled them to sleep before climbing into bed myself. I was shattered. I couldn't have been asleep long when I felt Jacob snuggle up beside me, I turned to face him and whispered good-night before drifting off in his arms.
