Gen 2 - Chapter 13: The Truth.

I was in the middle of sorting the twins dinner when the phone rang, I quickly gave them their bowls and answered. I was a little shocked when I was told that the Head Master at Kayleighs school wanted me to come in and collect her as soon as possible, I told them I would just call a sitter for the twins then I would be there.

Once Charlie arrived I kissed the twins goodbye and headed for the school, I wonder what has happened. I pulled into the school parking lot 10 minutes later, and went straight to the office. Mr Bane the Head Master greeted me and led me into his office. He waited until I had sat down before telling me what had happened today at lunch, I wasn't surprised as Kayleigh had been a totally different girl these past few weeks, but I was very hurt that she didn't confide in me. Mr Bane said that the girls would be punished accordingly and their parents spoke to also, in the hopes that it wouldn't happen again.

I thanked him and left his office to collect Kayleigh, as soon as she saw me she ran into my arms crying, I stroked her hair and said "It will be OK, I'm here now." I waited as she collected her bag from her locker and took her home.

When we got home I gave her a few minutes to get herself changed and waited until she was ready to talk to me about what had happened. I tended to the twins, snuggling them before setting them on the floor to play.

Half an hour later she called me upstairs to talk, I went up and listened as she told me everything. When she had finished I couldn't believe that she had been through all that and not told anyone, most of all that she had hidden it from me. I wasn't happy with how Kitty had handled things, but glad that she stuck up for her friend, I would have to call her Dad and check she was OK.

Kayleigh seemed a bit happier once it was all out in the open, more like her usual cheery self, I just hoped it stayed like that. Hopefully her party will cheer her up a bit more, I didn't invite too many people just in case she didn't feel up to it. We had bought her a baby pink scooter for her birthday, I knew she would love it. Kitty's Dad had also bought her a scooter for her birthday last week, I could just imagine the two of them scooting around town on them, out on their first dates.

Jacob arrived home a little after five, I had already made a start on the salad for dinner, so told him to wash up and ask Kayleigh to set the table. We all sat and ate, Kayleigh told him what had happened, he was a little mad at the other girls, but happy it was now out in the open where we could keep an eye out to make sure it doesn't happen again.

While Jacob put the dinner things in dishwasher I helped Kayleigh with her homework, she had maths equations to do, she was surprisingly good at them too and didn't really need my help.

I left her to finish the last few on her own and went to bath the twins and get them ready for bed, it wouldn't be long before they started school too. I knew Mason would look out for the girls, seeing as he was their brother, at least I hoped he would. The twins had had their bath and evening bottle, so I placed them in their cribs and gave each of them a kiss goodnight before running myself a bath, I needed one after today.

I got out feeling refreshed and found Jacob reading to Kayleigh, I said goodnight to her and headed downstairs to watch some telly. Twenty minutes later Jacob joined me, he was only wearing some jogging bottoms, so he must have had a quick shower. He still looked good and made my body tingle, even after all this time. We curled up and watched some telly, before heading off to bed.

I got up early to prepare for the party, it didn't take too long as I had only invited the family, and Kitty and her Dad. Mum said she was going to collect the cake on her way round so I didn't need to panic over that. I got myself ready and went to wake the twins so I could give them their breakfast and get them dressed.

I had just finished dressing them when I heard Kayleigh get up, I gave her a hug and wished her happy birthday. While she was downstairs I placed two new dresses on her bed for her to wear to the party.

Everyone arrived a little after Eleven, I told them to go straight into the living room where Kayleigh was. I placed the twins down for their nap and joined everyone in the living room, Kayleigh got a lot of presents from everyone. Once everyone was here I put the candles on the cake and we all sang Happy Birthday to Kayleigh as she blew them out.

She was stunning, and looked so much like Jacob.
