Gen 3 - Chapter 18: The Truth!

As the words rolled from my tongue I knew I was wrong. Alex knew nothing as to why this woman was here, I could tell from the sheer hurt and confusion in his eyes. He was afraid I would instantly blame him, and I had done, without thinking. And for that, I was truly sorry. Alex wouldn't, couldn't, do this to me. I just knew it. But what I couldn't understand, was why there was that tiny seed of doubt in the pit of my stomach. Where had it come from? Alex had been more than the perfect Husband. I could tell me and the kids were his life. Not this cheap, pathetic woman, who was after my life. My Husband. My family.

I looked into Alex's eyes, my own screaming for forgiveness. He gave me a weak smile and said..

"Call the Police Huni. I'll stay here and watch her to make sure she doesn't attempt to go anywhere."

I gave a little nod, and hurried off to make the call. I explained what had happened, and was told that an officer would be with us shortly.

As I placed the phone back into the holder I heard some scuffling coming from the bedroom, I raced back upstairs. I found Alex being attacked by the crazy Woman. She was screaming like a banshee, pleading with him, scratching at his arms. Trying anything she thought would get him to re-consider. In one swift, quick move Alex had overpowered her, and had her pinned by her throat, to the wall.

A few seconds later I heard the Police sirens, and there was a very firm knock at the door. I rushed downstairs to answer it, and let the officers in.

"She's upstairs," I said, giving a nod in the direction of the bedroom.

I stood to one side, with Alex, and watched while they cuffed and escorted her from our house. While the larger of the two officers placed her in the back of the car, the other came back and said that once they had checked her out and found her details, they would contact us regarding the situation. We thanked them and watched as they drove off.

I slumped onto the sofa, thankful that she was now gone. I glanced a look, or two, at Alex, and offered him a reassuring smile.

"Kay, I.. "

I put a finger to his lips.

"No, let me speak first. I owe you a huge apology. I should never have doubted you. I know you would never, could never, do that to me, us. Ever. I do trust you, I came to a conclusion, with the evidence in front of me, without thinking, and instantly blamed you, instead of her. I'm sorry, but, I would like an explanation, please."

"Oh Kay, don't be silly. You didn't know what was happening, I would have come to the same conclusion. Don't get me wrong, I trust you 100%, but I think anyone would, if they found a strange person in their bed. I'd been at work for about half an hour this morning, when she came strolling in, saying she was a new recruit. I was supposed to be showing her the ropes, and training her. I knew nothing about it, at first, but I phoned the Chief, while she was changing, and he confirmed it. I took her out into the yard, and began putting her through her paces. We chatted, like I would with any colleague, I told her about you, and the kids, so she knew I was married. Though, that didn't stop her flirting with me. I chose to ignore it the first time, and hoped that she would get the idea I wasn't interested. The rest of her first day of training went OK, until I shew her the trucks. I had dropped my phone on the seat, so climbed back in to retrieve it, and when I tried to climb out, she jumped onto my lap, and told me she wanted me. I was disgusted, and shoved her off me, before yelling at her, and making my point very clear, about her job. If she tried anything like that again, I told her she would be gone. She just gave me an anger filled look and stormed out, and I thought that would be the last of it."

"Wow, she sounds... delusional. I'm so glad you didn't respond to her advances, I mean, she was very good looking. I don't get why you didn't tell me, when I came to meet you, or while we were shopping."

"She had nothing on you Sweetheart. You're the only Woman for me. Ever. I guess I didn't tell you because I didn't want to worry you. I thought that that would be the last of it, and I wouldn't need to go any further with it. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, if I had, we wouldn't need to be having this talk now, and you wouldn't have had to doubt me, even for a second."

After setting the record straight, we were enjoying a little cuddle on the sofa, when the phone rang. I gave Alex a quick peck on the cheek and hopped up to answer it. I felt sick to my stomach as I listened to the officer "Sandy Cole, was wanted for: shoplifting, 3 counts of extortion, breaking and entering, among other things. She had been in the mental hospital a few towns over, and had escaped two weeks ago. We found a house key in her pocket, and assume that was how she gained entry to your home, as there were no signs of forced entry. Would you and your Husband please come to the station tomorrow to make your statements?" I nodded and then remembered that the officer couldn't hear a nod, and said yes, and thank-you, before hanging up the phone.

I relayed what the officer had told me to Alex, before making calls to the Locksmith to arrange for the locks to be changed as soon as possible, and changing the bed sheets. I didn't want to be sleeping in our bed, knowing she had lying on our sheets. It made my skin crawl just thinking about it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jasper had just finished filming the last few episodes of his show, so we left him babysitting Amber, while we went to make our statements, thankfully the kids didn't know what had happened, and I intended to keep it that way.

I gripped Alex's hand tightly as we entered the station. As we lived in a big busy city the Police Station was based in a large building in the towns centre, along with City Hall. We were kept in the station's tiny questioning cell, while we answered any questions the officers had, and while they typed up our statements. Two hours later, we were able to leave, statements were signed, questions were answered and the case was wrapped up. Sandy Cole was going to be put away for a very long time.

When we arrived home Alex headed straight upstairs to phone the Fire Chief and alert him to what had happened. I made a start on the Dinner, just a simple salad, as it was a wonderful sunny day.

Alex was practically bouncing as he wrapped his arms around me while I was tossing the salad.

"What's got you so happy?" I asked.

"The Chief has insisted I take a week off, and offered us his holiday home for the week too. So, pack your bags Baby, we're going to France tomorrow."

Stay tuned for chapter 19 :D

I missed quite a few chapters, but I'm all caught up now!

That was so crazy - coming home and finding that woman in their bed!!! I would totally lose it!

It was so great they believed in each other so much that Sandy didn't come between them at all. I was worried there, for a minute!

It's great that Kay gets to stay home with Amber now, too. It will give her a chance to bond with her "daddy's girl", since she had to work while Jasper was little.

The kids are so cute - if I can still call Jasper a kid! Lol!

I can't wait to see this vacation - I have a feeling it's gonna be great!
